Kat Covell

Kat’s passion for lighting was first sparked in high school which led her to pursue a lighting design degree at Rutgers. While attending school she began to work for a lighting shop in Atlantic City. Seeing the technology coming through the shop juxtaposed with the old fashion equipment she was learning in college, she opted to shift course and jump straight into touring. After a few years of touring the world, Kat moved to Vegas. By chance, Cirque Du Soleil was offering MA classes where she met with an ACT Lighting trainer who recruited her to move to Los Angeles.  In Los Angeles Kat began a career of tech support, training, development and education of the MA lighting software. This is how Kat came to meet with the Darkfire crew, troubleshooting with them at The Voice.  ACT afforded Kat the opportunity to work with programmers across many entertainment genres. It was during this time she jumped onto an episode of Adam Ruins Everything and changed course once again to concentrate on lighting for TV.  When the time came for Kat to leave ACT she reached out to Dan Boland who helped set her up programming for Darkfire shows such as Small Fortune, Domino Masters, Fboy Island, Back in the Groove.  While off duty from Darkfire, Kat continues to travel and program for bands such as Coheed and Cambria and Kings of Leon. She also frequents punk rock shows.
